With the amount of times my kids have watched Soul, it’s a little amazing that it took me this long to listen to a Jon Batiste album. Especially considering how great his work is. Another day another self head shake.

This album popped up as part of the Relix Daily 7 email list, which has often served me well over the course of this project. If you want me to listen to your album, being on the cover in only body paint and including a song titled “DMT” doesn’t hit at all.

This is the long-awaited first posthumous album by the legendary Prince, and it certainly does not disappoint. I can only assume that he had quite a unreleased few albums like this in the can. Here’s another great psychedelic rock album that came my way via the Spotify algorithm. For a genre that I never really explored much until the past few years, I now spend a whole lot of time in it.

Yesterday was Jerry Garcia’s birthday, so there were a bunch of articles paying tribute to different aspects of his career. This album is supposed to be one of the earliest known recordings of Jerry.

One of the genres that I am mournfully poorly-versed in is Dance, so it works to my advantage that I know quite a few people that love that scene.
