Today’s selection has taught me to read the album stats before making my choice. This is a fun and fascinating album, but I did not notice that it actually contains 69 songs and runs almost three hours until I was about a third of the way through. Luckily, I hadn’t followed my usual formula of frantically searching for an album that is short enough to listen to in time for my 11:59:59 PM deadline, so I still had enough day left to power through. Some of these songs are very sweet and unique love songs, while others almost seem to be satire. Either way, it’s quite the project. Apparently it was written to be performed as part of a drag revue or some similar theatrical presentation, though it was never performed in its entirety in less than two sittings. It would’ve been quite the marathon of a drag show. I imagine that would’ve been pretty hard on the queens’ feet.
