I heard a joke today about Buddy Rich and knew my selection would have to be from his extensive catalog. Rich is a legend, mostly for his virtuosic drumming, but to many people in the entertainment industry, he is also remembered for an infamous series of recordings secretly made by members of his band. His reputation is that of a perfectionist and he took his performances so seriously that any perceived errors by members of the band would result in a post-show dressing down in front of everyone. I don’t want to spoil it because any quotes or description I could write pales in comparison to the genuine article. So do yourself a favor and look up the Buddy Rich tapes. And shave your fucking beard.
