I’m generally not a fan of people putting covers on their albums. It’s a great thing for live shows, but unless you add something interesting to the original song I don’t think it’s a great idea. This album, however, has two covers that I liked. To be fair, I’m not familiar with the Counting Crows’ “Round Here,” but a new take on a Michael Jackson song is always welcome, especially now that it feels weird listening to his solo catalog. Perhaps this is the way to make those beloved songs live on, by making new versions by less controversial performers. Discuss among yourselves.
