I got turned onto Lizzo when her song “Cuz I Love You” was in a show and immediately piqued my interest. Her album of the same name has made frequent appearances in my listening rotation ever since I first heard it. Besides the fact that she is an amazing lyricist and performer, I really love the production on her albums. While I am not the most well-versed hip hop listener, I do get excited about any track that seems to include real instrumentation. Obviously, I’m not suggesting that virtual instruments and programmed drums take anything away from a song, but there is something cool about a song that can be performed 100% live by a band. I really hope I can see Lizzo in person at some point. I’ve been led to believe that its pretty fantastic.
